7 DAY SAMPLE ITINERARY - Taveuni - Vanua Balavu – Savusavu

This itinerary is very flexible depending on weather conditions and guest preferences.  There are numerous activities, dive sites, great fishing grounds and some of the most scenic unspoilt areas of Fiji.

Day 1:  Join VvS1 at Anchor off Taveuni.  There are direct flights from Nadi to Taveuni several times a day.  Settle in on board.  We’ll relocate to a sheltered bay nearby – Viani bay on Vanua Levu or Qamea Island.

Day 2:  A morning dive or snorkel in the Somosomo strait to see amazing soft corals.  Visit Kioa Island in the afternoon for the best handicrafts in Fiji, and an anchorage for the evening.

Day 3:  Today we’ll head to Weilagilala Island (4 – 5 hours) for great fishing and an excellent pass dive.  Although there is some building work underway, it has until now been uninhabited with a beautiful beach and protected lagoon.

Day 4:  Early start to make our way down to Vanua Balavu, in the Northern Lau Islands (3 ½ hours).  Vanua Balavu has only recently been open to visitors and has an amazing natural harbour and magical ‘Bay of Islands’.  Due to its remoteness the underwater life is plentiful, for fishing, diving and snorkelling. 

Day 5 - 8:  We’ll base ourselves in the Vanua Balavu area for several days, anchoring in the Bay of Islands and Bavatu Harbour.  Visit the coconut plantation to see how they extract the oil, hike to the top for an incredible vista, bbq on the beach, visit a village, snorkel, dive, fish, kayak, explore one of the outlying islands.

Day 9:  Head back toward Taveuni.  Stop by Matagi Island on the way for a look at its horseshoe shaped bay, before finding a secluded anchorage for a Teppanyaki dinner on the flybridge. 

Day 10:   Explore Taveuni.  Known as the Garden Island, a 4x4 tour will take you to waterfalls, natural river hydroslides, and the 180 degree meridian (International dateline).  A late afternoon departure for the five hour journey to Savusavu.  Fish along the way.

Day 11:  A full breakfast on the teppanyaki hotplate, and time to visit the town of Savusavu before connecting with you flight back to Nadi International Airport.
